Upcoming change in assigning FIFA ID for players in TMS

Dear Association TMS user,
Further to our communication "New principles for player identification" in 2025 and to our continued efforts in improving player data quality, we would like to inform you of an important change that will be implemented with the next TMS release (in the upcoming weeks): it will no longer be possible to create a new FIFA ID for a player in TMS.
When a player involved in a transfer does not have a FIFA ID in TMS yet, new associations will have two options to assign the FIFA ID before confirming registration:
Select an existing player from the potential duplicate matches prompted by the system from Connect ID, or
enter the known FIFA ID manually.
To support smooth processing after this update, we recommend the following:
When entering a transfer in TMS, use Extended Search and select the best match from the potential duplicates prompted by Connect ID. Advise your clubs to not create new players in TMS!
When confirming a player in TMS, add the player's FIFA ID from your National Registration System (NRS).
During the ITC process, coordinate early between the former and new associations to confirm the correct FIFA ID and respond promptly to FIFA ID requests from other associations.
