A FIFA ID is the worldwide unique identifier for each player, club and association.
The FIFA ID is assigned by Member Associations’ electronic national registration system via their respective integration with FIFA Connect ID. Once a player has been assigned a FIFA ID, it shall be used for the entirety of the player’s footballing career by every Member Association that registers the player. Similarly, a club’s FIFA ID shall be used for the entirety of its affiliation with its Member Association.
in certain cases, a player’s FIFA ID or a club’s FIFA ID may not be reflected in TMS. The relevant Member Association must then manually assign the player’s or club’s FIFA ID accordingly.
The FIFA ID and the information exchanged via the integration of Member Associations’ electronic systems with FIFA Connect ID allows FIFA to:
- identify when an event occurs that could potentially trigger training reward payments;
- create an EPP with a complete record of a player’s entire career (as of the calendar year of the player’s 12th birthday);
- calculate the training rewards owed to each training club based on player registration information available in an EPP; and
- facilitate the distribution of training reward payments by the FIFA Clearing House.
In order for the EPP to be complete and accurate, it is extremely important for high-quality data from the relevant Member Association’s electronic national registration system to be provided to FIFA (via FIFA Connect ID). Having a complete and accurate record of where players have been registered throughout their career (as from the calendar year of the player’s 12th birthday) will allow FIFA to effectively calculate and distribute training rewards, where applicable.
To ensure that a Member Association’s affiliated clubs are automatically considered for training reward payments, member associations must register a player with the correct FIFA ID, correctly reflect all registrations in their respective electronic registration system and, where required, send all relevant data to FIFA (via FIFA Connect ID).
